The first time movement saved my life was in January 2018.
As a newly single mother of two, my mental health was low, and I knew I needed support. A session with a helpline therapist reminded me of my passion for running, and soon after, I bought my first gym membership. Within a week, my thoughts began to improve.
The second time was in early 2023.
After losing my little sister Laura to suicide in late 2022 and realizing I was stuck in another unhealthy relationship, I knew I needed something to pull me up and forward. I came across a post about an upcoming fitness competition and, without overthinking it, signed up. I poured everything into training—and ended up winning my pro card. That moment became a turning point. It gave me focus, reminded me of my strength, and showed me what’s possible when I fully commit to something I’m passionate about.
What started as ALLISON CULLEN STRONG (ACS) has since grown into Love Yourself First (LYF)—the digital evolution of my mission to inspire women to prioritize their health by practicing positive daily habits like gratitude journaling, prayer, intentional movement, and eating real food—habits I truly believe help lead to happiness.
While I wouldn’t want to relive some experiences, they have undoubtedly shaped my journey. I invite you to hear more of my story in my interview with Joelle Tomlinson, now live on my YouTube channel.
Thank you, and welcome to LYF.
